END OF SEASON RESULTS
Coach Gabe Chandler is the Head Coach of HS Boys wrestling. He has coached wrestling for the past 20 years in California with the last 4 years here in Arizona. Desert Sunrise Wrestling has also expanded the coaching staff with the addition of his son, Jordan "Grant" Chandler as the newly named Head Coach of HS Girls wrestling. The family dynamic doesn't stop there within the wrestling program with the addition of his wife, Stacy Chandler as an Assistant Coach with both teams as well.

Coach Angel Seville joined the Desert Sunrise wrestling coaching staff last year as an Assistant Coach. He is from Chula Vista, CA and wrestled 103lbs. all 4 years in high school. He was the Metro League Champion his senior year. After high school he joined the military and served one tour to Afghanistan as a UH-60 Blackhawk mechanic for a medevac unit. He relocated to Arizona in 2014 for work. Coach Angel wanted to become part of a program to be able to share his insights and experiences through coaching. Coach Angel enjoys off roading, cooking. Dodgers baseball spending time with his dog and wrestling.
Coach Grant Chandler is the Head Coach of the HS Girls wrestling program and an Assistant Coach for HS Boys wrestling. He started wrestling at age 5 and was a Varsity wrestlers all 4 years of high school as well as a 3 time Eastern League Champion. He started coaching right after high school and throughout college. He has a love for coaching and sharing his experience and knowledge on and off the mat. He holds a degree in Secondary Education and taught U.S. History, Government & Economics and 8th grade Social Studies. He currently teaches at Desert Sunrise HS. He enjoys spending time with his dog Dexter, gaming and playing D&D.

The season came to close with the Golden Hawks qualifying 7 wrestlers for the State Tournament in February. In the end, only 3 made it to the podium. For the boys, Daveon Moore took 3rd, and for the girls, Kiarah Taylor took 3rd and Kiyaani Richardson took 6th. All of the wrestlers performed well against the diverse group of high schools they saw. The competition is becoming more demanding and our wrestlers are up to the challenge.
To continue the momentum towards becoming a champion there is no downtime, it's time to head back into the wrestling room to prepare for our upcoming season.
